Silk on Myers | National Catholic Reporter  by MSW.  MGB: The problem is not just the clerics, its the clericalist system.  We need to bring episcopal election back to the priests, or even better, the people.  We got Augustine that way, after all.  Lay Deacons (who are able to remarry) should be in control of Church property - from the parish to the diocesan level.  Again, they should be hired by the people.  The Deacon would then hire priests.
