On "Strangers No Longer": A Review | National Catholic Reporter

On "Strangers No Longer": A Review | National Catholic Reporter by MSW.  MGB:
The immigration issue is largely about the business Republicans fighting the cultural Republicans - although some who are both use the illegality of immigrant status to treat them as slaves who cannot complain to the authorities about unpaid wages or poor working conditions.  If right to work laws were repealed and immigration rules scrapped, no one would hire an immigrant worker unless there was an actual demand for their work.  Of course, meat backing would likely move to Mexico as well - which would bring about a whole new issue in food safety - one that has been with us for a while - which is requiring more robust worker protection in Mexico for imported goods.
