Gomez at AFL-CIO | National Catholic Reporter

Gomez at AFL-CIO | National Catholic Reporter by MSW.  MGB: It looks like John Kerry has opened the door for a negotiated settlement, although I do not believe the Pope is correct that a military action against hard targets that launch chemical attacks is not unjust or unnecessarily lethal. Hopefully the fear felt by the Syrians will lead them to give up their chemical weapons - although a strike that prevents other lethal rocket attacks against Syrian civilians is, again, not unjustified. As for immigration, it is good that the Archbishop is on the correct side - although some bishops on the right will object to any formulation that does not say that abortion is the most important moral issue of our time. Lets hope the Speaker moves ahead on the Senate bill. Although it is far too hard on immigrants, it is better than the status quo (and can be fixed when our Republican problem is solved with time).
