Baxter on Murray: Fireworks! | National Catholic Reporter by MSW.  MGB: Most Americans have left the Catholic educational system, some from a very young age (assuming they are confirmed at all).  Abandoning the Catholic ghetto has, in essence, made them exactly like any other Americans politically.  That is no surprise at all.  What is sad is that Catholic politicians have been wishy-washy in their defense of gay marriage and on why criminalizing abortion is a bad idea (and how the pro life movement is full of charlatans, including some bishops).  It would be nice if they would speak courageously so as to educate the bishops, even if they do alienate some Catholic voters.
