Pope rejects church of 'small-minded rules' in Jesuit interview | National Catholic Reporter by John Allen.  MGB: He may yet change his mind on some of these issues, especially gay marriage and female ordination.  In truth, it is the actions of the Church in denying next of kin rights to gay partners in hospital that provided the impetus to demand marriage equality.  As for abortion, it will take women being ordained for many to believe that the Church's teaching on abortion is not a way to put women in their place.
