HHS Mandate & Chief Justice Roberts
HHS Mandate & Chief Justice Roberts by MSW. MGB: It has always been the case that the large group phenomenon means that no one insurance payment or tax payment has any effect on any one abortion. This is simply stated in Fagothy's Right and Reason, the ethics text in most if not all Catholic minor seminaries. I've been saying this for a while. Also of note is the fact that all insurance coverage of preventative services has included contraception since December 2000 when the EEOC said it must. The only issue is eliminating the co-payment. Any exemption to some parts of the Church is a walk back of that requirement (which did not apply to self insurance and still won't under the accommodation). It is not at all unreasonable, however, for the government to draw lines on what is and is not a Church function for employment law purposes. It does so all the time. If it did not, Blue Cross could be a Church and decide what it wants to not cover based on any religious exemption.
