Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A by MSW.  MGB: As someone who worked both weekend days while in high school, I would have benefited from a Sabbath law.  Having that extra $200 when I started college was not worth the effort of working on Sunday while going to school full time.  I don't agree with mayors playing hardball with franchises due to the owner's angst on how God will deal with a tolerant society.  He probably should have realized that airing his views would have an impact - everyone has an iPhone nowadays.  Regardless, his view is hardly unique.  You can hear echos in it in the rally held on the Hill yesterday predicting that religious freedom is irreparably harmed because employers have to cover without co-pays the same contraceptive coverage they have been providing since December 2000.  God is not about to smite us for being tolerant of homosexual couples receiving legal recognition for the relationships they have been having for all of human history.  All that is changing is that the law is now treating them reasonably rather than with superstition.  Indeed, I believe that God is on the sign of treating gay families with respect and tolerance.  Indeed, I am sure that if He is angry about this issue at all - that anger is directed at Catholic Hospitals who encouraged families to deny the rights of gay spouses to attend to their loved ones in times of extremity - hoping that the gay child would somehow repent of their homosexuality - when in reality no such repentance is necessary.
