Biden goes Trump Lite on immigration
As I commented in the links, Biden's policy making options do not extend to acting unilaterally. He cannot order immigration judges to ignore the law. Seeking a better life is not a valid reason for asylum. Family unification might be, depending on the age of the migrant. Biden, like Obama, is using cages for temporary shelter, but everyone has a bed and a warm blanket until there is room for them in the next step of the process. There are no standing room only facilities. Trump went out of the way to make things terrible so people would just leave. It was inhumane and cynical.
Biden was elected to get rid of Trump, who was a disgusting boar. Pence would have been Trump Lite. On immigration, Biden will advance a legislative agenda on immigration, and it will not be punitive, which is better than what Schumer produced, not to pass, but to further politicize the issue.
The main reason people are leaving Central America now is that we did too little to aid them when two category four hurricanes ground much of their countries to dust. Instead of going to them, they came to us. Blame that one on Trump, whose total legacy is only now coming to light.
