I doubt the Pope's remarks were for public consumption. As for the network, leave Gomez on the board and take away his purple hat instead. It would send a stronger message. Shutting down the network would mean shutting down the Register too. I stay away from the kind of triumphalism that puts the hierarchy over the free press. We no longer index books.
