MGB: Our friend Archbishop Kurtz is where he is today because he probably thought whomever would be elected instead of him would be awful - and he is probably right. He is likely in that part of the job where he is wondering what he got into and was speaking to what his audience wanted to hear.  Giving a shout out to the dying Cardinal George is effective, but cheap.  I remember the Cardinal at two CCUSA events and it is sad to see him decline so.  I am sure colleagues and staff told him the Fortnight was a good thing.  That is a very, very cruel thing to do to a colleague.
