One part of the end of "traditional marriage" we should not bemoan, however, is the empowerment of women as equal partners, rather than as the chattel of their husbands. What frightens traditionalists the most about gay marriage is that neither party is in control - and if the Church is like marriage, then the bishop is no longer the father of his own diocese.
