The Olympics are a mess, but we still love them
NBC's local signal does not reach my house. So I am not watching. That means no commercials. At least the athletes get paid. Smoking weed should not be a disqualifier. It is as much about the athletes and the spectators as national pride in the medal count. If only the world were united, we could dispense with the latter. Perhaps we could make the Olympics a distributed event. The decathalon could be in Greece, with most distance running in Kenya, swimming in Los Angeles and diving in Beijing. The capitalists cannot go everywhere to buy up the tickets.
