As Francis shows, this Easter triduum there's no room for complacency
The story of the Passion is about relationship. We have no way of reaching out to God. The sufferings of Christ as expiation for some cosmic debt caused by our human nature. Rather, it is God reaching to us, relating to us and our sufferings. He is a God of absolute humility, comfortable in both his own skin and in ours. God desires not our worship, but instead our fellowship. His morality is for us to be human beings, not angels. The resurrection is a promised gift to us, not a merit badge that we earn. The only condition is that we do likewise for each other, which is harder than obsessing about our faults. We can only do so with His help.
