Law is about the reasoning and the precidents, not the result. Federal supremacy in equal protection is not going away (which also gives us gay marriage), nor should it. The cultural warrior bishops (and USCCB staff) have put Republican coalition poltiics above truth, which is bad for the Church and the bishops, who most of us simply ignore at election time. As for who should be elected president of the conference, the obvious choice is Cupich.
