WPFMTS: Spinning the Pope | National Catholic Reporter

WPFMTS: Spinning the Pope | National Catholic Reporter by MSW.  MGB: Dr. Miller needs to face the fact that much of the pro-life movement has dedicated itself to Republican electoral victory, even at the cost of the truth (not the loss of pro-life Democrats who supported health care reform and were tagged by the Susan B. Anthony Fund as having supported abortion, which they decidedly did not).  Some rethinking must be done by the Church as to what it wishes to accomplish on abortion - and whether criminalization of doctors and mothers is more effective than providing a large tax subsidy to each child in a family.  As for gay marriage, historically the sacrament has reflected the civil celebration.  It should still.  Indeed, the celebration of gay marriage would return to the traditional rite of Bacchus and Sergio.  None of this is spin - it is truth - which is where Francis is headed.
