I would rather beat Dolan on the merits regarding contraception and religious liberty, rather than having this be the basis of victory on this issue. Of course, while I am saddened, I am not shocked. His conduct of late reeks of the kind of clericalism (and a certain lack of skill in legal matters - like putting the needs of the institution above the needs of the people) that is a hallmark of the abuse crisis.
